LAKEHURST – Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst will be planning an active shooter exercise on base Thursday morning, September 12.
The goal of the exercise is to test emergency response and preparedness in the event of a real-world incident.
Locals in the area may see an increased presence of emergency responders, such as police, fire and medical services. There will also be giant voice notifications, sirens, simulated gunfire and other loud noises heard across the installation.
“Gate closures, delays and increased traffic on JB MDL are expected throughout the duration of the exercise,” the U.S. Air Force said in a statement.
Any questions about the upcoming exercise can be directed to the Joint Base Public Affairs Office at 609-754-2104, or 87.abw.pa@us.af.mil.
