LAKEHURST – For the next five days, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL) is scheduled for “abundant noise” training. So if you hear loud explosions, don’t be alarmed.
The military base’s training will consist of live mortar fire, howitzer fire and cratering explosions. Beginning today, Ocean County and even Monmouth County residents can possibly hear the training.
Every month, JBMDL puts out a schedule so residents know when to expect mild or severe noise. This is to deter calls to local 911 dispatchers.
The base labels each day on the calendar with three different levels of noise: slight noise, moderate noise and abundant noise. Between November 19 through 23, the base has labeled each day the highest at “abundant noise.”
After November 23, the rest of the month is scheduled for “moderate noise.” Noise levels are subject to change without notice due to training requirements and weather, JBMDL said.
