Cops: Suspicious Driver Had Meth

  LAKEHURST – A Brick woman driving dangerously was found to have methamphetamine on her.

  A 2003 Dodge Caravan was spotted on Sunday night by Officer Kevin Jacobs in the area of Route 70 and Rose Street. The driver was not staying in her lane.

  When the officer pulled her over, the driver gave a false name, police said. The vehicle was registered to Joanne Murphy, 51, of Brick.

  Her vehicle was searched and police found meth and drug paraphernalia.

  Murphy was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Hindering. Ms. Murphy was also issued five motor vehicle summonses for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Maintain Lane, Careless Driving, Driving While Suspended and Unlicensed Driver.

  Charges against Murphy are accusations unless and until she is proven guilty in a court of law.

  Officer Jacobs was assisted by Manchester Police Department K-9 Handler Ptl. Marc Micciulla and his partner K-9 Storm, Sgt. Iain James and Officer Harold Hester.
