Overturned Car Crash Kills Two Teens

  FREEHOLD – Two teenagers died in a single car crash after the driver lost control causing the car to overturn Tuesday evening, officials said.

  Around 10:30 p.m., a 17-year-old boy from Howell was driving south on Route 9 when he changed lanes, causing him to lose control of the car. As a result, the car spun out and ran off the roadway, hitting a curb and several concrete bollards. The car continued to roll over and finally stopped in front of 3468 Route 9, officials said.

  Two passengers, a 15-year-old boy from Allentown and a 17-year-old boy from Manalapan, were both pronounced dead after the crash.

  The driver and two other passengers were taken to a local hospital. The driver and one passenger, a 15-year-old Manalapan girl, were treated for minor injuries and subsequently released. One other passenger, a 17-year-old Allentown boy, remains held pending medical observation, officials said.

  At this time, the crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County SCART and Freehold Township Police Department.
