HOWELL – A New Jersey State Police sergeant has been charged for allegedly groping a 14-year-old girl and giving her alcohol at a Pennsylvania hotel, officials said.

David DeJesus, 45, of Howell, has been suspended without pay as a result of the charges, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police, said.

The victim, who goes to school with DeJesus’ daughter, told police that she was in town to attend a wrestling tournament with her father. She first interacted with DeJesus by the pool at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center in State College, saying she asked for some alcohol after seeing DeJesus drinking.

DeJesus allegedly gave her an alcoholic beverage then invited her into his hotel room.

DeJesus was charged with indecent assault without consent, indecent assault of a person less than 16-years-old, selling/furnishing liquor to a minor and unlawful contact with a minor, according to online court records.
