FREEHOLD – A borough man has been convicted of repeatedly sexually abusing a child over a period spanning more than a decade, authorities said.
Raul Hernandez-Teles, 43, was found guilty following a weeklong trial before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Henry P. Butehorn, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced.
The jury convicted Hernandez-Teles of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, second- and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact.
An investigation by Freehold Borough police determined that the abuse began in 2008, when the victim was 4 years old, and continued until she was 15, authorities said. The offenses sometimes occurred multiple times per week, according to prosecutors.
Hernandez-Teles was arrested in November 2024 and indicted by a Monmouth County grand jury in February 2025.
His trial began Aug. 18. Jurors deliberated for several hours across two days before finding him guilty on every count.
Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Sarah Mielke of the Special Victims Bureau prosecuted the case. Hernandez-Teles was represented by Freehold attorney Matthew Mordas.
Sentencing is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 3. Hernandez-Teles faces a lengthy state prison term, with the two most serious convictions subject to the No Early Release Act. He also faces Megan’s Law registration and parole supervision for life.
