Woman Killed When Truck Smashes Into Home

BRICK – A 55-year old woman was killed when a truck drove into her home earlier this morning, police said.

  On Dec. 17, just before 9 a.m., police responded to a residence at 372 Drum Point Rd. According to Sgt. Jim Kelly, the driver of a gray 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck lost control and crashed into the outer wall of the living room of the residence.

  Inside the home, 55-year old Barbara Anne Filan was lying in a bed. Filan subsequently succumbed to her injuries from the crash, Sgt. Kelly said.

  The driver of the pickup truck, 86-year old William McEvoy of Brick, was extricated from his vehicle and transported to Ocean Medical Center for precautionary observation.

  Emergency services, police, and fire personnel responded to the scene to rescue and clear debris. 

  The investigation is ongoing. No charges at this time.

  “Chief Riccio would like to extend his deepest condolences to the families involved. This is a tragic accident made all the more difficult by the time of year,” stated Sgt. Kelly.
