BRICK – A man who was in a car crash on the Garden State Parkway wound up leaving the scene of the crash, and then fleeing police. When he was found, he was arrested on drug charges.

The crash took place on Aug. 3 at around 9 p.m. The suspect pulled off the Parkway and parked his Nissan Sentra in the Lanes Mill School lot. When police arrived, he was no longer in his vehicle.

As officers set out to look for him, Patrolman Michael Zolezi Jr. saw a man walking north on Lanes Mill Road who turned out to be the driver: Timothy Gandy, 33, of Brick.

While Zolezi asked him about the crash and any injuries he might have, Gandy ran off. Officers followed him toward the Greenwood Loop apartment complex, and found him hiding in a wooded area along Sawmill Creek.

Gandy was arrested and charged with Obstructing the Administration of Law, Possession of Heroin, Manufacturing/Distributing Heroin, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Receiving Stolen Property.

Charges are merely accusations until proven in a court of law.
