BRICK — A Brick man was arrested in Florida for allegedly choking his 9-year old daughter in public, reports say.

Scott W. Alino, 47, was arrested on April 23 and charged with neglect of a child without great bodily harm, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Reports stated that Alino dragged his daughter out of a restaurant – the Hogfish Bar on Stock Island in the Florida Keys – and proceeded to choke her in the parking lot. Employees alleged that the girl nearly lost consciousness before a restaurant employee intervened, according to a CBS4 Miami report.

Witness reports were later confirmed by surveillance footage.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Alino claimed that his daughter was misbehaving and he was trying to calm her down, informing authorities that he did not need them telling him how to raise his child.

Alino was arrested and is currently being held without bail in the Monroe County Jail in Florida.
