LAKEWOOD – Police are investigating an incident where a local woman was robbed at knife point at her place of business.

At around 1 a.m. on August 27, Lakewood Officers responded to Greenwald Caterers, located at 40 East 8th Street, in response to a 911 hang up call. Once on the scene, police discovered that a 48-year old employee was robbed at knife point approximately 30 minutes prior to their arrival.

The victim told police that two unidentified black males came into the store around 12:30 a.m. demanding to know where the money was. The suspects were armed with a knife and hammer and wore scarves around their faces.

When the victim informed the suspects that she did not know where the money was kept, the suspects stole an undetermined amount of cash from her wallet. Before fleeing the scene, one of the men smashed her phone with a hammer.

The woman locked herself in her office and waited to make sure the suspects were no longer in the building before yelling for help. A short time later she was heard by a passerby who contacted the police.

Police report that the unknown suspects are both approximately 5’10’ and of thin build, last seen wearing scarves around their faces and work gloves.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Det. Eric Cicerello at 732-363-0200 ext. 5344.
