Police Investigating Suspected Arson At Lakewood Apartments

LAKEWOOD – Police continue to probe the Lexington Avenue Apartments fire, which has since been ruled intentional.

On the evening of August 2, Lakewood Police and Fire responded to 601 Lexington Avenue, to the apartment building that went up in flames. Once on the scene, officials reported that the fire was contained to the front wall of the three-story complex. Police and fire evacuated 37 individuals from the building.

A subsequent examination by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Unit, Lakewood Police Department, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CIU and Fire Marshal’s Office, determined that the fire was set intentionally.
