BRICK – A beloved member of the department, K9 Vader, Badge #916, has died after serving the community with dedication since 2016.
Born Sept. 30, 2014, Vader joined the force on March 6, 2016, working alongside his handler, Officer John Turrin, Badge #199. Known for his intelligence, loyalty and enthusiasm, Vader took part in numerous preventative sweeps, assisted the Detect and Render Task Force, and handled high-profile assignments, including two presidential details. His final public appearances were at National Night Out on Aug. 5 and the Farmers Market on Aug. 9.

Despite recent health issues, Vader remained playful and affectionate, often leaning on people for attention, rolling over for belly rubs and even teaching himself to play catch. His expressive ears and wagging tail became hallmarks of his personality.
Vader’s loss leaves a void in the department and the township. Officials thanked the community for their support throughout his nine-and-a-half-year career and recognized the strong bond between Vader and Officer Turrin.
“Rest in peace, Vader,” the department said. “Your legacy of service and love will never be forgotten.”
