BRICK – Change of plans for those who are headed to the Brick Township Summerfest tonight – the concert has been postponed.

Due to anticipated storms and the upcoming heat wave, the Boathouse Row concert and fireworks display have been rescheduled from July 18 to August 15.
Brick officials are also warning residents to take precautions with the impending heat wave.

“In a heat wave, keeping your cool will keep you healthy. People and animals should stay indoors. If you don’t have air conditioning, go to the mall or the library or a community relief shelter,” stated officials.

It is recommended that you drink plenty of fluids, avoid alcohol or sugary drinks, wear light clothing if venturing outside, and avoid leaving people or animals in closed vehicles.

In addition, Brick officials will be cutting short this weekend’s farmer’s market in response to the “extreme heat.”

“Out of concern for the health and well-being of our patrons and our vendors we appreciate your understanding.”
