BRICK – One young man was seriously injured in a crash in front of a church Sunday evening.

Police said that a Buick Envision pulled out of 714 Herbertsville Rd. – St. Paul’s United Methodist Church – and made a left onto the road. This crossed in front of a Toyota Camry.

One passenger in the Camry, 23-year-old Milton Perez of Freehold, suffered serious head and internal injuries. The other two people in that car suffered injuries to their extremities. They were Michael Roman, 25, of Jackson; and the driver, Kasandra Diaz-Torres, 22, of Howell.

The driver of the Buick, Lisa DeFeo-Ester, 38, of Somerset, suffered injuries to extremities, according to police.

All four were transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital by Brick Police EMS, Point Borough First Aid Squad, and Paramedics from Hackensack Meridian Hospital. The roadway was closed and traffic was detoured for approximately 2 hours during the investigation.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the Camry had the right of way. Anyone who may have witnessed or has information related to the crash is asked to contact Ptl. David Thergesen at (732) 451-2037.
