BRICK – U.S. Sen. Cory Booker visited Brick Township to discuss proposed federal legislation aimed at preventing opioid overdose deaths.

The Rory Ahern Act would expand access to naloxone, commonly known by the brand name Narcan, as well as overdose response training and lifesaving equipment for bystanders and first responders.

Mayor Lisa Crate, Township Council Vice President Derrick Ambrosino, EMS/Rescue Chief James Riccio and members of Brick EMS/Rescue joined Booker for the discussion.

Local officials emphasized the importance of providing residents and emergency personnel with the training and resources necessary to respond quickly during an overdose.
