Vehicle Thefts In Berkeley, Police Remind Residents To Lock Cars

BERKELEY – Police are investigating recent vehicle thefts that occurred on Jan. 13 near Ocean Gate, officials said.

Police responded to reports of vehicle entries around Narragansett Ave. and Long Branch Ave. where victims reported that someone stole personal items and money from their cars overnight. Despite the stolen items, none of the vehicles were damaged and they were all unlocked.

“Residents are reminded to always lock their vehicle doors as these are frequent targets of opportunity for would be thieves,” Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said. “Valuables should always be kept in a safe and secure place other than a vehicle.”
