Ocean County Shooting Suspect Turns Himself In

  SOUTH TOMS RIVER – The suspect in a shooting that took place on Aug. 25 in South Toms River turned himself in to Toms River police on Sept. 10.

  Shakem Hunley, 24, of Freehold, was charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault, one count of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, police said.

  “Hopefully the residents of South Toms River can rest a little easier knowing Hunley is in custody,” Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.

  The incident on Aug. 25 resulted in three people being shot, and a female victim being physically assaulted.

  Defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
