Fire Devastates Borough Home

BEACHWOOD – A fast moving kitchen fire in a Beachwood Borough home is now under investigation.

Ocean County Scanner News was first to report the blaze which broke out around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 18 at the Windward Avenue home on the 200 block.

Stations 16,38, 18, Squads15 and 20 and FAST team were called to the scene as flames shot out of the side of the home.

The Beachwood and Pine Beach Fire Department’s responded. According to the Beachwood Volunteer Fire Department, the kitchen fire was spreading through the home and into the attic. A second alarm was requested which brought a ladder from the Manitou Park Fire Department and a R.I.T. team from the Pinewald Fire Department along with Ocean County Fire Coordinators to assist Beachwood Command.

The Bayville Fire Department provided apparatus for a coverage assignment.

A Facebook post from the department confirmed the blaze was under control in approximately 15 minutes.

No one was injured during the fire, but the homeowners’ pets perished.

The cause of the fire in under investigation by the Ocean County Fire Marshals Office and Beachwood Police Department.

The Volunteer Fire Company thanks all of the mutual aid fire companies and the Beachwood First Aid & EMS units who provided coverage during the incident.
