BERKELEY – Police reported that there was a sad discovery of an elderly, deceased woman found in a wooded area along an ATV trail.
Police are trying to identify the woman, and believe she was in the advanced stages of decomposition, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office reported.
“We are working to positively identify this female and will release more information once we do. At this point in time, there is no reason to believe there is any foul play involved her untimely and tragic death,” Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer stated.
She was found on October 24 about 1.5 miles south of Township Line Road in Berkeley Township.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Berkeley Township Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office are currently investigating this matter.
