BERKELEY – Fortunately, the driver only suffered minor injuries when his car struck a house on the morning of February 4.
Edward Scanlon, 81, of Berkeley was heading west on Westbrook Drive when his car veered off the road to the right, then crossed the road and collided with a house, Lt. Ryan Roth told The Berkeley Times. The car took down three mailboxes, a sign, and two trees. It came to rest in the house’s living room and partially in a bedroom.
The driver suffered cuts to his hand and arm. It’s believed that he had a medical episode because he doesn’t remember the crash, Roth said.
No one was home at the time of the crash. The house, located at 165 Westbrook Drive, was deemed uninhabitable at the time but it can be repaired.
