Body Of Missing Swimmer Recovered At Island Beach State Park

  BERKELEY – Authorities have found the body of a swimmer who was swept away in the ocean off Island Beach State Park on Monday night.

  According to a spokesperson from the U.S. Coast Guard and the State Park Police, the 59-year-old woman was found around 11:05 a.m. this morning. At this time, her identity has not been revealed.

  Officials said that the woman was at the beach with her husband near area A22. She had entered the water alone around 8:20 p.m., but never came out. Officials believe she may have been caught in a rip current.

  The Coast Guard searched overnight and was later joined by the State Police marine unit, State Park Police and other local agencies in the morning to assist with the search.
