BERKELEY – Berkeley Township Police will be hosting a car seat safety check September 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Beachwood Plaza on Route 9.

The inspections are free. Members of the Berkeley Township Police, Ocean County Sheriff Department and other local law enforcement will be present to answer any questions you may have. The inspection process takes less than 30 minutes.

More than 90 percent of children’s car seats are installed incorrectly in New Jersey, according to Berkeley Police. This event aims to reduce that number and increase safety.

Regular car seat inspections are held the second Wednesday of each month at the Bayville Fire Department. For more information, call Lt. Ryan Roth at 732-341-1132 ext. 2125.
