TOMS RIVER — A Holiday City bagel shop is asking for the community’s help identifying a man accused of stealing Christmas ornaments and baked goods in a brazen daytime theft this week.

The incident occurred at Broadway Giant Bagels on Mule Road, which opened last year and had recently decorated its store with a Christmas tree. The ornaments, according to the owner, were sentimental keepsakes donated by employees and their families.

Surveillance footage shows a man taking several ornaments from the tree in front of customers, the owner said. The individual also allegedly stole cookies, cakes, muffins, and loaves of bread before leaving the store.

The owner reported the theft to Berkeley Township Police and provided transaction details and surveillance images. Police have not yet released identifying information about the suspect.

The business is urging Holiday City residents and others in the area to review the images posted online and contact authorities if they recognize the individual.

Anyone with information is asked to call Berkeley Township Police at 732-341-1132. The shop can also be reached at 732-942-0140.

The owner said he hopes community members will help locate the suspect and recover the ornaments, which he described as deeply meaningful to his staff.
