LACEY — Township Police Chief Paul J. Sullivan Jr. reassured residents after a threat was made toward the Lacey Township School District, saying officers and partner agencies are trained and ready to respond to school safety incidents.
Sullivan said many township officers have personal ties to the schools and community, with some raising children in the district, coaching local sports and volunteering locally.
He said Lacey officers train regularly for emergencies and praised the response from neighboring agencies, including Berkeley Township, Ocean Township, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and New Jersey State Police. Police from Jackson, Toms River, Lakewood and Manasquan also assisted.

Sullivan also credited the Lacey Township School District for strong communication and cooperation with police.
“Serving our community is a privilege we do not take lightly,” Sullivan said.
