STAFFORD — A Waretown woman was seriously injured Sunday night after her vehicle struck a utility pole in Stafford Township, authorities said.

Police responded around 10:21 p.m. April 12 to a reported crash at the intersection of Route 9 and Manor Drive. When officers arrived, they found a single vehicle that had collided with a utility pole.

Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle had been traveling northbound on Route 9 when the driver lost control for reasons that remain under investigation.

The driver, identified as 41-year-old Laura Krohn, was found unconscious and unresponsive. Officers removed her from the vehicle and began providing emergency aid until EMS crews and paramedics arrived.

Due to the severity of her injuries, Krohn was transported by helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for advanced treatment.

The crash caused significant damage to the utility pole, prompting a response from Atlantic City Electric to assess and repair the scene.

The crash caused power outages to several neighborhoods in town.

Authorities said the roadway was shut down for about two hours while crews investigated and cleared the crash.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked to contact Traffic Safety Officer C. Smith at 609-597-1189, extension 8474.
