BERKELEY – Two special meetings will be held next week, and one of them will determine if a neighborhood zoned for single family homes can be turned into townhouses.

Patch reported that the Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting on March 25 will be to hear about Stonehill at Berkeley, LLC. They quote a public notice that there is a plan for 24 townhouses in five, two-story buildings. There would also be a new street, an outdoor pickleball court and a retention basin.

The location is described as the “southerly side of Sloop Creek Road and across from North Stott Street” which was already approved for a single-family subdivision of 11 homes.

The Zoning Board already met this month, on March 11. The March 25 meeting isn’t on the township calendar as of early afternoon on March 20.

However, a special meeting of the Township Council is on the calendar. It will be held the day before, on March 24. An official in the clerk’s office said that the agenda will be posted before the meeting and that issues being discussed involve the police department and the Board of Adjustment. Council meetings are at 6 p.m. The council held their regular monthly meeting on March 16.

Both meetings are held at the Berkeley Township Municipal Building, 627 Pinewald Keswick Road.
