NEW JERSEY – TD Bank customers will see changes to their checking account requirements when the new year begins, as the bank plans to raise the minimum daily balance needed to avoid a monthly service fee.
In a notice emailed to account holders, TD Bank said that starting January 4, 2026, customers with TD Convenience Checking accounts must keep at least $250 in their account each day to sidestep the monthly maintenance fee. The current minimum is $100.
The $15 monthly fee helps cover the cost of operating the account, according to the bank. TD Bank did not explain the reason for the increase in its message to customers.
The policy shift will affect anyone who relies on maintaining the minimum balance to avoid extra charges.
