BEACHWOOD – A longtime fire fighter died Tuesday.

The Beachwood Fire Department announced on its Facebook page Tuesday morning that past chief Harold “Ray” Durbin died after “a courageous battle with lung cancer.”

He served with the department from 1963 to 1979, and served as chief the last two years of his tenure.

Durbin had been living in Florida.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Durbin family. Rest easy brother, we got it from here,” the post said.
