Cyclist Injured By Car

BRICK – A cyclist was struck by a car during an early morning crash, police reported.

  Daniel Meza, 38, of Brick, suffered injuries to his leg, head and back, police said. He was treated at the scene and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

  He was attempting to cross Hooper Avenue but struck the hood and windshield of the car, and fell off the vehicle as it came to a stop. He was heading out of the parking lot of 2775 Hooper Ave.

  The driver of the vehicle, a Honda Accord, was Emmanuel Cardona, 28, of Brick. His passenger was Katherine Cardona, 27, of Brick. They were uninjured.

 The incident happened at about 2 a.m. on the morning of June 6.

  The Brick Township Police Department’s Patrol Units and Emergency Medical Services along with Paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital responded to the scene.  

  The crash is still under investigation by Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
