FREEHOLD – A closing sign posted in the window of the Windmill Hot Dogs restaurant in Freehold has caused a bit of a stir among locals. Fans of the famous hot dog joint need not worry: the store will not be closing its doors.

Despite the announcement, a co-owner of the famous local eatery informed Jersey Shore Online that it was all a misunderstanding.

The sign reads: “This week will be our last week open we will be closing for good Saturday night.”

According to Rena Levine Levy, co-owner of Windmill restaurants, this announcement was just a result of a mix-up.

“Seems there was a misunderstanding. The owner of the location knew nothing about the sign. There will be a new manager in the location by this weekend and the location will be opened as usual!” said Levine Levy.

The Windmill restaurant in Freehold has been in business for more than 30 years, located at 3338 Route 9 South. The local eatery has a few other locations including: Brick, Belmar, Red Bank, West Long Branch, and Asbury Park.
