Former Employee Busted For Local Business Theft

MANCHESTER – A 19-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested after allegedly stealing more than $35,000 worth of office equipment from his former employer.

Manchester Township Police said Boruch Berger had been an employee at Returns Worldwide, LLC. on Lacey Road in Whiting. He had been terminated recently. Then on Wednesday, November 7th, the business owner called police to say that printers, electronics and household goods were stolen from their office in the wee hours of the morning. Police began an investigation including canvassing the surrounding businesses.

A security camera located on the exterior of one of those other businesses revealed the theft and authorities were able to identify him.

Leads to the department found the stolen property at a warehouse on Industrial Way in Toms River. Police contacted the suspect who agreed to meet with officers at the police station.

Berger was arrested and charged with burglary and theft. He was processed and released on a summons.

The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by Patrolman Anthony Iliadis, Patrolman Chris Cerullo and Detective Craig Beaulieu.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department’s Crime Scene Investigations Unit assisted at the scene.
